Introducing Sunrise Long Run

Introducing Sunrise Long Run – Social Run Club in Brunswick

Sunrise Long Run Melbourne kicked off in February 2025 with one simple goal: to make Sunday long runs something to look forward to. Training for a marathon can feel like a grind when you’re doing it solo, but running with friends can transform it into the highlight of your week. That’s what we wanted to create with Sunrise — a space where runners know they can show up, get their long run done, and share the kilometres with good company.

The Details

We meet every Sunday at 7 a.m. outside Sweet Evelyn Café in Brunswick. From there, our routes change weekly, often winding through Royal Park, Princes Park, Merri Creek Trail, Moonee Ponds Trail, or the Maribyrnong River.

Distances usually range from 10 km to 25 km, with options to shorten or add on extra kilometres — choose your poison! We aim to get the course up at the start of the week so you know what to expect (especially if you will be self-pacing).

Right now, our main group runs at around 5:00–5:30 min/km pace (perfect for those who have some experience and want to build distance). However, there’s never any pressure to run at this pace and often some of the crew will take it easier, or speed it up! Your best bet is to share what pace you’re thinking of going, and you’ll often find someone also interested in the same.

Our goal is to introduce more set pace groups as we grow so that everyone can find their rhythm!

Post Run Coffee

No matter what pace or distance you choose, we all always finish back at Sweet Evelyn Café. Coffee, pastries, or even a full breakfast are the best reward after Sunrise!

The team at Sweet Evelyn are superstars for hosting our sweaty selves every Sunday, so give them a big smile and a thank you when you grab your cappuccino and croissant.

Run Leaders

Our runs are community-led, with Skye, Tri, Becky, Jeevan, and Grace taking turns to map courses and guide the group. Whoever has the best route idea that week usually steps up to lead.

If you ever have a course or workout in mind that you want to lead, we’re always open to these too!

Caution: Skye will likely try to peer-pressure you into the merch.

Come Run With Sunrise

Everyone at Sunrise is always so excited to see new faces. A lot of us came to Melbourne from interstate, and running together has helped build a really solid community both inside and outside of our weekly Sunday runs.

The crew are pretty well connected with other run clubs across the city (like Bridge Road Brewers Run Club, Nobody Run Club, Glasshouse Run Club and more), making Sunrise a great springboard into the wider Melbourne running community.

Whether you are an early bird or an aspiring one, come along for a run, stay for the coffee, and appreciate a solid start to your Sunday with Sunrise Long Run!
